Paul and Barnabas in Iconium Healing of a paralytic in Lystra - Acts 14

Paul and Barnabas in Iconium
- And it came to pass in Iconium that they entered into the synagogue of the Jews together, and spake in such a manner that he believed a great multitude, not of Jews but of Greeks.
- But the unbelieving Jews stirred up the spirit of the Gentiles against the brethren.
- And they tarried a long time, speaking boldly concerning the Lord, who bore witness to the word of his grace, and gave signs and wonders through their hands.
- And the multitude of the city was divided; and some were for the Jews, and some for the apostles.
- And there was a riot, both of the Jews and of the Gentiles, with their rulers, to insult them and to stone them,
- When they heard it, they fled to Lystra and Derbe, cities of Lycaonia, and to the surrounding province; 7 And they preached the gospel there.

Healing a paralytic in Lystra
- And a certain man was sitting on Lystra, a lame man on his feet, lame from his mother's womb, who had not walked.
- And he heard Paul speaking, and fixing his eyes upon him, and seeing that he had faith to be healed,
- And he said aloud, Rise upright on thy feet. And he jumped and walked.
- And when the multitudes saw what Paul had done, they lifted up their voice, saying in the Lycaonian language, The gods were made like unto men, and came down unto us.
- And they called Jupiter Barnabas, and Mercury Paul; because this was what he was talking about.
- And the priest of Jupiter, whose temple was in front of the city, brought to the door of the gate bulls and garlands, he desired with the multitude to sacrifice to them.
- But when the apostles Barnabas and Paul heard them, they rent their clothes, and leaped into the midst of the multitude, crying,
- And saying, Sirs, why do ye these things? We are also men like you, subject to the same passions, and we tell you to turn from these vanities to the living God, who made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all that is in them;
- Who in time past hath let all nations walk in their own ways.
- And yet he left not himself without a testimony, working for you out of heaven, giving you showers and times of fruitfulness, filling your hearts with food and with joy.
- And when they had said this, with difficulty they prevented the multitudes from sacrificing unto them.
- And there came Jews from Antioch and Iconium, who persuaded the multitude, and stoned Paul, and dragged him out of the city, that he was dead.
- And when the disciples were about him, he arose, and went into the city, and went forth with Barnabas to Derbe the next day.
- And having preached the gospel in that city and made many disciples, they returned to Lystra, and Iconium, and Antioch,
- Confirming the minds of the disciples, exhorting them to abide in the faith, for we are troubled by many tribulations to enter into the kingdom of God.
- And when they had ordained by common consent elders in every church, praying with fasting, they commended them unto the Lord in whom they had believed.
- And they passed by Pisidia, and went to Pamphylia.
- And when they had spoken the word in Perga, they went down to Attalia.
- And from thence they sailed to Antioch, whence they had been commended to the grace of God for the work which they had already performed.
- And when they came and gathered the church, they reported how great things God had done for them, and how He had opened the door of faith to the Gentiles.
- And they tarried not long there with the disciples.
